• The Compact Point-of-Sale is a commercial off-the-shelf payment terminal to enable convenient contactless smart card and AKBIL (i-Button) reload / top-up at retail locations.
• The low cost device is the ideal solution for setting up a smart card and AKBIL reload / top-up network of convenience stores, news stands, sweets shops, grocery, markets, government and corporate offices and other point-of-sale locations.
• From these convenient locations, passengers can add value to their contactless smart cards by presenting the card to contactless reader target and to their AKBILs by touching to i-Button reader target. The merchant uses the keypad to enter the desired value to be added to the card or AKBILs. The card is re-presented to the target and the contactless reader encodes the new value or product to the card. The AKBIL is re-touched to the target and i-Button reader encodes the new value to AKBIL. A receipt for the transaction may be printed from the payment terminal.
• All transactions are stored by the Compact Point-of-Sale and transmitted to the central computer system via dial-up modem, GPRS or Ethernet as desired, at scheduled time intervals. The Compact Point-of-Sale provides passengers a convenient way to reload their smart cards and AKBILs at retail locations throughout the region. Reloads made out of station reduce queues at ticket vending machines and ticket offices, resulting in lower maintenance costs and improvements to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
